Mistresses of Versailles Trilogy

Set against the cruel and elegant world of Versailles in the 18th century, the Mistresses of Versailles trilogy examines the life of King Louis XV, France’s most “well-beloved” monarch. Louis XV had it all: charm, good looks, a faithful wife. But he wanted more, and then more, and then some more again. The trilogy focuses on the women in Louis' life and on the intimate moments that make history, just as surely as wars and great men do.  Click on a cover or here to learn more.

Apricots: A Novel of Saint Domingue

A murder mystery set in 1792, Apricots takes place over the course of one day in the French colony of Saint Domingue (current-day Haiti) in the wake of the largest slave insurrection the world had ever seen: one thousand plantations burned, two thousand planters massacred. A year later, Rose Fongravier discovers a body in the garden of her crumbling coffee plantation: An accident, a personal vendetta, or—God forbid—the start of another slave revolt?
Based on actual events and inspired by the surviving plantation records of an historical family, Apricots is a taut, atmospheric thriller that examines how the great events of the outside world shape and in turn are shaped by smaller, more intimate concerns and tragedies.
